DESCRIPTION:Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto\, located at 7601 Southcrest Parkway\, is hosting a free baby fair on Saturday\, May 3 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the hospital's outpatient waiting area on the main floor of the hospital.\n\n            "We are excited to host our annual baby fair for new and expecting moms\," said Lori Porter\, nurse manager of Baptist DeSoto's mother-baby unit. "We have an excellent team at Baptist DeSoto\, and we are committed to helping moms in our community have a safe and memorable experience\, from delivery to recovery."\n\nDuring the baby fair\, moms\, dads and other caregivers can learn about car seat and seat belt safety\, get healthy pregnancy tips\, receive infant CPR information\, and learn about breastfeeding\, lactation support services and much more. Local vendors\, Women's Pavilion tours\, a photo booth\, giveaways and a grand prizes will also be featured during the baby fair. Baptist's nurses\, obstetricians\, pediatricians and other child health experts will be on hand to answer questions. Attendees can park at the main entrance of the hospital and follow the signs to registration. \n\nThe national Blue Cross Blue Shield Association designated Baptist DeSoto as a Blue Distinction Center of Excellence for Maternity Care. Baptist DeSoto meets or exceeds the criteria that emphasizes patient safety and positive clinical outcomes for maternity patients. Baptist DeSoto also meets additional criteria defined by Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi's Maternity Quality Model\, a statewide initiative aimed at improving maternal health and making childbirth safer. In addition\, Baptist DeSoto has earned the Baby Friendly  designation. This prestigious international award recognizes hospitals and birthing centers that offer breastfeeding mothers the information\, confidence and skills needed to successfully initiate and continue breastfeeding their babies.\n\n            Baptist DeSoto has an obstetrical emergency department in the Women's Pavilion. Our obstetrics emergency room in our Women's Pavilion is staffed around the clock with board-certified OB/GYN doctors to care for women and give them added reassurance when something doesn't feel right.
